Carbonnade Flamande

Belgian beef stew braised in dark beer with onions.

Ingredients

  • Beef600 g
  • Onion1 pcs
  • Dark beer300 ml
  • Mustard1 tbsp
  • Butter40 g
  • Beef broth800 ml
  • Thyme1 tsp
  • Salt1 to taste
  • Black pepper1 to taste

Instructions

For Carbonnade Flamande, cut onion, beef and beef broth into serving pieces.

Brown beef and beef broth lightly.

Add onion and cook for 3-5 minutes.

Pour in butter and add dark beer, mustard and thyme.

Simmer gently until tender and the sauce is thick.

Adjust salt and pepper and serve hot.
