Ingredients

  • apples3 pcs
  • egg1 pcs
  • wheat flour160 g
  • sugar2 tbsp
  • cinnamon0.5 tsp
  • salt1 to taste
  • water2000 ml
  • butter30 g
  • sour cream100 g
  • honey2 tbsp

Instructions

1

Wash the apples, peel them, remove the cores, and grate on a coarse grater. Let the mixture sit for 2–3 minutes, then gently squeeze out the excess juice by hand.

2

Beat the egg into the apple mixture, add sugar, cinnamon and a pinch of salt, and mix thoroughly.

3

Sifting as you go, gradually add the flour and mix with a spoon into a thick, soft dough that holds its shape but isn't runny.

4

Bring about 2 L of water to a boil in a wide pot and add a pinch of salt.

5

Using a teaspoon dipped in the boiling water, shape small dumplings and drop them into the boiling water.

6

Cook over medium heat: once the dumplings float to the surface, boil them for another 3–4 minutes until done.

7

Remove the dumplings with a slotted spoon and let the excess water drain off.

8

Serve hot, drizzled with melted butter, and offer sour cream or honey on the side.
