Holubtsi (Stuffed Cabbage Rolls)
Tender cabbage rolls stuffed with meat and rice in a tomato-based sauce.
Ingredients
- Cabbage1 качан
- Pork and beef mince500 g
- Round-grain rice100 g
- Onion1 pcs
- Tomato juice300 ml
- Sour cream150 g
- Oil2 tbsp
Instructions
Blanch the cabbage leaves in boiling water for 2-3 minutes until flexible, then trim the thick ribs.
Boil the rice until half-cooked. Mix it with the minced meat, sauteed onion, salt, and pepper.
Place about 2 tbsp of filling on each cabbage leaf and fold it into a tight roll.
Pack the rolls closely into a pot and pour over the tomato juice mixed with sour cream.
Cover and simmer over low heat for 50-60 minutes until the cabbage and filling are tender.
Serve warm with sour cream and fresh herbs.
