Braised Turkey with Rice
A hearty homestyle dish of tender braised turkey and fluffy rice, cooked in one pot with carrots, onion and paprika.
Ingredients
- turkey (fillet or thigh)600 g
- oil2 tbsp
- onion1 pcs
- carrot1 pcs
- rice250 g
- broth600 ml
- bay leaf2 leaf
- paprika1 tsp
- salt1 to taste
- black pepper1 to taste
- fresh herbs15 g
Instructions
Cut the turkey (breast or thigh) into medium chunks, season with salt and pepper to taste.
Sear the turkey in hot oil over high heat for 6-8 minutes until lightly golden.
Add diced onion and carrot, cook for another 5 minutes until the vegetables soften.
Add the rice, rinsed beforehand until the water runs clear, stir and heat through for 1-2 minutes so it absorbs the fat and the vegetables' flavor.
Pour in the hot stock, add the bay leaf and paprika, stir and bring to a boil.
Cover with a lid, reduce the heat to low and simmer for 25-30 minutes without stirring, until the rice has absorbed all the liquid.
Remove the pot from the heat, let the dish rest covered for 10 minutes, fluff the rice with a fork, discard the bay leaf and serve sprinkled with fresh herbs.
