Potato Varenyky
Classic Ukrainian dumplings filled with mashed potatoes and served with fried onion.
Ingredients
- Wheat flour400 g
- Egg1 pcs
- Potato500 g
- Onion2 pcs
- Butter30 g
- Sour cream100 g
- Oil2 tbsp
Instructions
Make the dough by combining flour, egg, a pinch of salt, and warm water. Knead until smooth, then let it rest for 20 minutes.
Boil the potatoes, mash them with fried onion, then season with salt and pepper.
Roll the dough out to about 3 mm thick and cut out circles about 7 cm in diameter.
Place filling on each circle and pinch the edges tightly to seal the dumplings.
Boil in salted water for 3-4 minutes after the varenyky float to the surface.
Serve hot with fried onion and sour cream.
