Cheese Burek

A popular balkan home-style dish with phyllo pastry, white cheese or feta, eggs, well suited for a family weekly menu.

Ingredients

  • Phyllo pastry400 g
  • White cheese or feta400 g
  • Eggs2 pcs
  • Yogurt150 g
  • Oil80 ml
  • Sesame seeds1 tbsp
  • Butter30 g

Instructions

Crumble the bryndza or feta and mix with eggs and yogurt into a thick filling.

Keep the phyllo sheets covered with a towel so they do not dry out.

Brush each sheet with oil or melted butter and place a strip of cheese filling along one edge.

Roll the sheet and arrange it in a spiral or rows in a baking dish.

Brush the top with butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.

Bake at 190°C for 30-35 minutes until crisp and golden.
