Agua de Jamaica

Ingredients

  • dried hibiscus calyces50 g
  • water1500 ml
  • sugar150 g
  • ice cubes18 pcs

Sort through 50 g of dried hibiscus calyces, rinse them quickly under cold water, and place them in a saucepan.

Add 500 ml of water, bring to a boil, and simmer over low heat for 10 minutes to get a rich infusion.

Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the infusion steep for 20 minutes, then strain it through a fine sieve or cheesecloth.

Pour the infusion into a large pitcher, add the remaining 1000 ml of water and 150 g of sugar; stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.

Chill the agua de Jamaica in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to let the flavor settle and make sure the drink is well chilled.

Fill glasses with 18 ice cubes, pour in the drink, and serve immediately.
