Canadian Split Pea Soup

- yellow split peas400 g
- ham or smoked bone400 g
- carrot2 pcs
- onion1 pcs
- celery2 stalks
- broth1500 ml
- salt1 to taste
- black pepper1 to taste
Instructions
For Canadian Split Pea Soup, cut yellow split peas, carrots, onion, celery stalks and ham or smoked bone into convenient pieces.
In a pot, warm a little fat or liquid and gently cook carrots, onion and celery stalks for 3-5 minutes.
Add ham or smoked bone, yellow split peas, carrots and onion and pour in broth.
Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and cook until the firmest components are tender.
At the end, stir in broth, then season with salt and pepper.
Serve the soup at the right temperature: hot for hearty soups or well chilled for cold soups.
