Maple-Glazed Salmon
Juicy salmon fillet with a crispy crust under a glossy glaze of maple syrup, soy sauce and mustard — a quick Canadian dish made in one pan in under half an hour.
Ingredients
- salmon fillet700 g
- maple syrup4 tbsp
- soy sauce3 tbsp
- dijon mustard1 tbsp
- garlic2 cloves
- lemon1 pcs
- vegetable oil1 tbsp
- salt1 to taste
- black pepper1 to taste
Instructions
Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel on both sides and season with salt and black pepper.
In a bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, soy sauce, Dijon mustard, finely grated garlic and the juice of half a lemon to make the glaze.
Heat a large heavy-bottomed skillet over medium-high heat for 2 minutes, add the oil and place the salmon in skin-side up.
Sear for 4–5 minutes without moving the fish, until the flesh develops a golden crust.
Carefully flip the fillets skin-side down, pour the glaze into the skillet and reduce the heat to medium-low.
Cook for 5–7 minutes, spooning the glaze over the salmon a few times, until it thickens to the consistency of thin honey and the fish flakes easily with a fork (internal temperature 52–54°C).
Remove the skillet from the heat and let the salmon rest for 2 minutes so the glaze thickens slightly.
Serve hot, spooning over the remaining glaze from the pan and drizzling with the juice or wedges of the other lemon half.
