Ingredients

  • canned tuna250 g
  • toast bread8 slices
  • cheddar cheese160 g
  • mayonnaise80 g
  • pickled cucumber2 pcs
  • celery1 stalk
  • salt1 to taste
  • black pepper1 to taste

Instructions

1

Drain the tuna in a fine sieve and press firmly with a spoon to squeeze out all the liquid, then transfer to a bowl and mash with a fork.

2

Dice the pickle and celery into small cubes (about 5 mm) and add to the tuna along with 40 g of mayonnaise; season with salt and black pepper to taste and mix thoroughly until well combined.

3

Slice the cheddar thinly or grate it on a coarse grater.

4

On 4 slices of sandwich bread, place a layer of cheese, spread the tuna filling evenly on top, cover with another layer of cheese, then top with the remaining slices of bread — you should get 4 sandwiches.

5

Spread the outer sides of each sandwich thinly with the remaining mayonnaise (40 g) instead of oil or butter — this will give an even golden crust when frying.

6

Heat a skillet over medium heat with no added fat and place the sandwiches in it. Fry for 3-4 minutes, until the bottom slice is golden brown.

7

Carefully flip with a spatula, press down lightly, and fry for another 3-4 minutes on the other side, until the cheese is fully melted and the bread is golden and crisp.

8

Cut the finished sandwiches diagonally in half and serve immediately, while the cheese is hot and gooey.
