Cacık
This refreshing Turkish cacık combines smooth yogurt, crisp cucumber, garlic, dill and dried mint into a light chilled dish.
Ingredients
- natural yogurt700 g
- cucumbers400 g
- water250 ml
- garlic3 cloves
- dill10 g
- salt1 to taste
- olive oil20 ml
- dried mint2 g
Instructions
Wash the cucumbers, peel if desired, and coarsely grate; gently squeeze out excess liquid.
Finely chop the dill, and crush or mince the garlic very finely.
Transfer the yogurt to a bowl and whisk until smooth. Gradually pour in cold water to reach a thin, creamy consistency.
Add the grated cucumbers, garlic and salt, and mix thoroughly.
Ladle the cacık into serving bowls, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with dill and dried mint.
Chill for at least 30 minutes and serve cold as a meze or side dish.
