Ingredients

  • bread or baguette4 slices
  • ripe tomatoes3 pcs
  • garlic2 cloves
  • olive oil2 tbsp
  • salt1 to taste

Instructions

1

Cut the bread or baguette into 4 slices about 2 cm thick.

2

Toast the slices on a dry grill pan or in a toaster for 3–5 minutes, until the surface turns crispy while the inside stays a bit soft.

3

Cut the tomatoes in half and grate the flesh on a coarse grater into a bowl, holding the skin in your hand; alternatively, simply rub the cut side of the tomato firmly over each hot slice.

4

Rub the warm bread with halved garlic cloves, spreading the aroma evenly over the crumb.

5

Spoon the grated tomato onto each slice or rub it into the bread, then drizzle with olive oil and season with salt.

6

Serve the pan con tomate right away, before the bread has a chance to turn soggy.
