Caprese Salad
A classic Italian appetizer of ripe tomatoes, delicate mozzarella and fragrant basil, dressed with olive oil — the fresh taste of summer in just a few minutes.
Ingredients
- large tomato3 pcs
- mozzarella250 g
- fresh basil15 g
- olive oil2 tbsp
- balsamic cream1 tbsp
- salt1 to taste
- black pepper1 to taste
Instructions
Slice the tomatoes (3) and mozzarella (250 g) into rounds about 5 mm thick.
On a flat plate, arrange the slices overlapping in sequence: tomato → mozzarella → basil leaf.
Drizzle with 2 tbsp of good-quality extra virgin olive oil.
Season with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste — it's best to salt the tomatoes rather than the mozzarella.
If desired, drizzle with 1 tbsp of balsamic glaze.
Serve immediately: caprese shouldn't be kept in the fridge, or the mozzarella will lose its texture and the flavor will become less vibrant.
