Lithuanian thick soup with grains, peas, and smoked meat

Ingredients

  • dried peas300 g
  • pearl barley250 g
  • smoked meat300 g
  • onion1 pcs
  • carrot1 pcs
  • potato600 g
  • broth or water800 ml
  • salt1 to taste

Instructions

Soak the peas and pearl barley for several hours or overnight.

Cut the smoked meat into pieces and dice the vegetables.

Place peas, barley, meat, onion, carrot, and potatoes in a pot.

Cover with broth or water and bring to a boil.

Simmer for 1-1.5 hours until the peas and barley are tender.

Season with salt at the end and serve the thick soup hot.
