Chicken Souvlaki
Juicy Greek chicken skewers with a lemon-oregano marinade, garlicky tzatziki, and warm pita.
Ingredients
- chicken fillet600 g
- lemon1 pcs
- garlic3 cloves
- olive oil4 tbsp
- dried oregano2 tsp
- greek yogurt300 g
- cucumber1 pcs
- pita bread4 pcs
- salt1 to taste
- black pepper1 to taste
Instructions
Cut the chicken breast into even 3 cm cubes.
For the marinade, mix 3 tbsp olive oil, the zest and juice of half a lemon, 2 minced garlic cloves, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Toss with the chicken.
Cover the bowl and let the chicken marinate for 30 minutes in the fridge; take it out 15 minutes before cooking to come up to room temperature.
For the tzatziki, grate the cucumber, squeeze out the liquid well, and mix with Greek yogurt, 1 minced garlic clove, 1 tbsp olive oil, and the juice of the other half of the lemon.
Thread the chicken onto skewers, packing the pieces tightly. Heat a grill or grill pan to high and brush with 1 tbsp olive oil.
Grill the souvlaki for 10–15 minutes, turning regularly, until evenly browned and the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 74°C.
Remove the skewers from the heat and let rest for 3 minutes to let the juices settle.
Serve the souvlaki with tzatziki, warm pita, and lemon wedges.
