Turkish Köfte
Juicy oval Turkish köfte made from beef-lamb mince, onion and herbs, pan-seared to a golden crust and served with grilled vegetables.
Ingredients
- ground beef and lamb500 g
- onion1 pcs
- breadcrumbs60 g
- parsley20 g
- ground paprika1 tsp
- salt1 to taste
- black pepper (ground)1 to taste
- olive oil2 tbsp
- tomato2 pcs
- green pepper4 pcs
Instructions
Grate the onion on a fine grater and squeeze out the excess juice. Finely chop the parsley.
In a bowl, combine the beef-lamb mince, onion, breadcrumbs, parsley, paprika, salt and black pepper.
Knead the mixture for 5 minutes, until it becomes sticky and smooth. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
Rub your palms with olive oil and shape into 12 small, evenly sized oval köfte.
Heat a cast-iron skillet or grill pan well over medium-high heat and brush the surface with olive oil.
Cook the köfte for 3–4 minutes per side, until golden-brown and cooked through to at least 70°C internally.
Meanwhile, grill the tomatoes and green peppers alongside for 2–3 minutes per side. Serve the köfte hot with the grilled vegetables.
