Pabellón Criollo
Venezuelan plate with rice, black beans, shredded beef, and fried plantain.
Ingredients
- Stewing beef700 g
- Cooked black beans500 g
- Rice300 g
- Plantains or bananas2 pcs
- Onions2 pcs
- Tomatoes3 pcs
- Garlic cloves4 cloves
- Cumin1 tsp
- Oil4 tbsp
- Salt1 to taste
- Black pepper1 to taste
Instructions
Boil or braise the beef for 1–1.5 hours until tender, then shred it.
Sauté onions, garlic, and tomatoes, then add cumin, salt, and pepper.
Add the shredded beef to the sofrito and simmer for 15–20 minutes.
Warm the beans with some onion, garlic, and salt.
Cook the rice separately, then slice and fry the plantains until golden.
Serve everything on one plate: rice, beans, beef, and fried plantain.
