Prepare the dough or use ready-made shortcrust pastry, and chill it before shaping.

Fry the ground meat with onion until the colour changes, breaking up any lumps.

Add potato or breadcrumbs, broth, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, salt and pepper.

Simmer the filling for 10–15 minutes until it becomes juicy but not runny, then let it cool.

Place the filling into the pie base, cover with the second layer of dough and crimp the edges.

Brush with egg and bake at 190 °C for 35–45 minutes until golden brown.
