Poutine
Canadian dish of fries topped with cheese curds and hot gravy.
Ingredients
- Potatoes800 g
- Cheese curds200 g
- Beef or chicken broth400 ml
- Butter30 g
- Flour30 g
- Oil for frying700 ml
- Black pepper0.5 tsp
- Water500 ml
Instructions
Cut the potatoes into fries, rinse in cold water, and dry very well.
Deep-fry the potatoes or bake them with oil until crisp.
For the gravy, melt the butter, add the flour, and cook for 1–2 minutes.
Gradually whisk in hot broth and cook until thickened.
Place the hot fries on plates and scatter cheese curds over them.
Pour hot gravy over the top so the cheese softens slightly, and serve immediately.
