Nasi Goreng

Indonesian fried rice with egg, vegetables, and sweet soy sauce.

Ingredients

  • Cold cooked rice500 g
  • Eggs3 pcs
  • Chicken or shrimp250 g
  • Onion1 pcs
  • Garlic cloves3 cloves
  • Kecap manis3 tbsp
  • Soy sauce1 tbsp
  • Chili1 pcs
  • Cucumber for serving1 pcs

Instructions

Break up the cold rice with your hands so the grains are separate.

Fry the eggs separately as fried eggs or an omelet, reserving some for topping.

Mince the onion, garlic, and chili and fry in a hot skillet.

Add chicken or shrimp and cook until done.

Add rice, kecap manis, and soy sauce and stir-fry for 3–4 minutes over high heat.

Serve with egg on top, cucumber, and extra chili.
