Polish Apple Cake Szarlotka
A homestyle Polish apple cake with shortcrust pastry and cinnamon.
Ingredients
- Flour400 g
- Butter200 g
- Sugar150 g
- Egg1 pcs
- Apples1000 g
- Cinnamon1 tsp
- Baking powder1 tsp
Instructions
Make shortcrust dough from flour, butter, sugar, egg, and baking powder.
Divide the dough into two parts and chill one part in the freezer for 20 minutes.
Grate the apples and stew with sugar and cinnamon until soft.
Press the larger dough portion into a pan and spread the apple filling over it.
Grate the chilled dough over the top as crumbs.
Bake at 180°C for 40–45 minutes until golden.
