Mix the ground meat with egg, salt and pepper; shape into small meatballs.

Cut the carrots, celery and potatoes into cubes.

Bring the broth or water to a boil, add the vegetables.

Cook for 10 minutes, then drop in the meatballs.

Cook for another 10–12 minutes, until the meatballs and vegetables are done.
