Ilish Bhapa
A traditional home-cooked dish with a spiced sauce and a distinctive regional flavour.

- pasta di senape3 cucchiaio
- cocco grattugiato80 g
- peperoncino1 pz
- semi di senape1 cucchiaino
- sale1 cucchiaino
- olio vegetale2 cucchiaio
Istruzioni
Cut the hilsa fish or herring, mustard paste, grated coconut, chilli peppers; chop the onion, garlic and ginger separately.
In a heavy pan, heat the fat and fry the onion until golden; add the garlic, ginger and spices from the recipe.
Add the main ingredient and fry until it is coated in the spiced base.
Add the tomatoes, yoghurt, coconut milk or other liquid base if the recipe calls for one.
Simmer over low heat until tender and the sauce has thickened; adjust the salt and acidity at the end.
Serve hot with rice, flatbread or the side dish traditionally suited to this meal.
