Soak the bread in milk for 5 minutes and squeeze out well.

Mix the ground meat with the egg, finely chopped onion, bread, salt and pepper.

Shape into oval cutlets of equal size.

Coat in breadcrumbs.

Fry over medium heat for 5–6 minutes on each side until cooked through.

Serve with mashed potatoes, pickles or beetroot salad.
