Soak the salted cod in advance, changing the water, then cut into pieces.

Cut the potatoes, onion and pepper into slices.

Layer the potatoes, onion, pepper, tomatoes and cod in a pot.

Add olive oil, garlic, bay leaf and a little chilli.

Simmer covered for 40–60 minutes without stirring too roughly.

Serve hot with bread.
